A 19-year-old North Carolina suspect, Kenyon Raishaun Cameron, has been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of two individuals in Hillsborough.
The victims, 16-year-old Zikera Wardlow of Hillsborough and 20-year-old De’Anthony Letrelle Morgan of LaGrange, were discovered on December 30 inside a vehicle on Cardinal Drive, near Old N.C. 86. Hillsborough police responded to the scene around 6:40 a.m. after receiving reports of a gunshot injury.
The shooting reportedly occurred on December 29 in Southern Hillsborough. Authorities confirmed that both Wardlow and Morgan had been fatally shot.
Cameron was taken into custody during a traffic stop on Wednesday afternoon along Orange Grove Road. The arrest involved collaboration between the Hillsborough Police Department, the State Bureau of Investigation, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office.
Cameron is currently being held at the Orange County Detention Center without bond as the investigation continues.
