Julian Ray Goode has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the alleged killing of 24-year-old Jakaira Ortiz.
Ortiz was found dead, Saturday, January 4, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, inside an apartment at Lake in the Pines Apartments.
Social media reports suggested that Ortiz was allegedly last seen with a man named Julian Goode, who she had allegedly been in a relationship with, and was reportedly last seen with Julian on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2024.
On Monday, January 13, Goode was arrested and booked into the Cumberland County Detention Center at approximately 1:15 a.m. without bond. He is expected to make a court appearance on Monday afternoon, according to court documents.
Around 8:42 a.m. Saturday morning, Jan. 4, Fayetteville Police Department responded to an apartment along the 900 block of Tamarack Drive in reference to a reported missing person. Upon arrival, officers found Ortiz suffering from fatal injuries, and she was pronounced dead on the scene.
The investigation is still ongoing.
