Word on the Curb… a Mecklenburg County Jail detention officer has been fired and charged after an investigation revealed that she sneaked a cell phone into the jail for an inmate.
It’s unclear if the cell phone was an iPhone or an Android, but clearly this jailer was getting to the money and got caught. The jailer was identified as 40-year-old Ayana Dillion, according to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Dillion was charged with providing a phone/electronic to an inmate and received a $10,000 secured bond.
Sheriff Garry McFadden said the investigation began after they received reports of an illegal item inside the detention center. According to the sheriff, investigators discovered that Dillion provided the inmate with the phone, which is prohibited under state law.
Dillion was with MCSO from October 20, 2021, until March 12, 2024.
I didn’t know the CO’S or DO’s still engage in this type of behavior. If the wanted a cell phone or outside item they should have stay of trouble or made better choices in life then would have access to those things. Well good for her now she can be a pen pal or communicate through the toilet with them now that is a resident.
