Jeopardy Champion Arrested in North Carolina on Felony Secret Peeping Charges

CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC — A two-time Jeopardy! winner — the game show with all the big brains — just got himself caught up in some REAL messy drama in North Carolina.

Authorities say 43-year-old Philip Joseph “Joey” DeSena, an engineer from Raleigh who snagged back-to-back wins on Jeopardy! in 2024, was arrested Dec. 1 on some seriously disturbing allegations.

According to a warrant out of Currituck County, DeSena is accused of planting hidden cameras in a bathroom and bedroom to secretly record someone. The alleged incident went down on Oct. 10, but investigators didn’t issue the warrant until Nov. 26.

DeSena reportedly turned himself in to Wake County authorities, where he was booked on two felony secret peeping charges. Court documents say he was released on Dec. 3 after posting a $5,000 bond and was ordered to stay far away from the alleged victim.
