Hunter Huss teacher charged with two felony counts involving a student under 16
GASTONIA, N.C. — A physical education teacher at Hunter Huss High School has been suspended after being charged with two felony sex-related offenses involving a student under the age of 16, according to court records and Gaston County Schools officials.
Authorities said Victoria Lynn Powell, 31, was arrested following an investigation that led to two felony counts of indecent liberties with a child.
Court documents allege that on Nov. 1, 2025, Powell “unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously” took or attempted to take immoral and indecent liberties with a minor for the purpose of sexual arousal.

An arrest warrant was issued on Dec. 1, 2025, and Powell is currently being held without bond, jail records show.

Gaston County Schools confirmed Powell was hired in August 2021 and is currently working under a 10-month teaching contract for the 2024–2026 school years. The district also confirmed she was suspended with pay on Nov. 14, 2025, pending the outcome of the criminal case.
School officials have not released details about the student involved, citing privacy laws and the ongoing investigation.
