Greenville Rapper Eazy-Roc Shot Dead More Than A Week After “Rat” Call-Out
PITT COUNTY, N.C. –A Greenville, North Carolina rapper was found shot to death on the side of the road — just more than a week after making a heated Facebook post accusing another man of being a “rat,” sparking backlash and warnings from commenters.
According to the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called out around 8:25 p.m. Sunday, December 28, to the 5100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, near Old Creek Road, after reports of a man lying in a ditch.
When deputies arrived, they found 35-year-old Eric Ramone Horton Sr., of Greenville, suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures, but Horton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Horton was known locally as a rapper under the name Eazy-Roc.
THE FACEBOOK POST THAT’S RAISING EYEBROWS
More than a week before his death, on December 17, Horton made a public Facebook post accusing another man of allegedly cooperating with law enforcement — claims that have not been verified.
In the post, Horton wrote:
“Niggas been rats in Greenville claiming they gangsta and be writing statements and be on witnesses lists and shit. Your shades are definitely off… move around Zeke Brazy, you a dub. Ya card is officially pulled.”
Horton also shared what he claimed were documents resembling a statement and a witness list, along with a photo of the man he was accusing.
“YOU PLAYIN WITH FIRE”
The post immediately sparked intense debate in the comments. Several people warned Horton that calling someone a “rat” publicly without the real proof was dangerous.
One commenter wrote:
“Speaking on da hurks gon get u murked foo… better tighten up.”
Others accused Horton of assaulting the man’s character, saying the paperwork was fake and didn’t appear to come from a legitimate motion of discovery.
Horton fired back in the comments, standing firm:
“The case number speaks for itself… if he a dub, he a dub. Stop saving niggas.”
