A longtime pastor in Waxhaw, North Carolina news is facing disturbing allegations. Authorities Pastor Waymon Sykes Jordan arrested have charged 79-year-old Pastor Waymon Sykes Jordan, Sr. of Greater Blessed Hope Church with four counts of statutory sex with a child aged 15 or younger.

According to warrants obtained by The North Carolina Beat, Pastor Jordan has a long history in ministry. His church’s website states that he was “called into the ministry and licensed at First Mt. Zion Baptist Church” in 1972. He is also listed as the founder of Greater Blessed Hope Church. In addition to his pastoral duties, the church’s website says Jordan has been employed for over 15 years at Grier Funeral Home in Monroe, North Carolina.

Pastor Jordan has been married for 46 years to Lady Veola L. Jordan and has four children.

However, recent court documents paint a far darker picture of the pastor’s activities. Warrants reveal that on January 1, 2022, Pastor Jordan “unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously” engaged in sexual acts with a minor under the age of 15. The victim’s identity is listed in all four charges.

Law enforcement issued the warrants for Jordan on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, and he was taken into custody the same day. Court records show that his bond has been set at $200,000 secured.

As of Thursday afternoon, the disgraced pastor remains behind bars at the Union County Jail. His next court date is set for March 25, 2025.
