The clerk, a 21-year veteran in the game, was just doing his job when a man in a tan hoodie and sunglasses walked in asking for CBD cigarettes. But within seconds, everything changed.

A Split-Second From Death
As Floyd turned toward the register, he noticed the suspect pull a gun. Three shots rang out. One hit Floyd’s forearm, shattering two bones. The second? Aimed dead at his head. But thanks to his reflexes and pure instinct, Floyd ducked and raised his arm—saving his own life by inches.
“Oh, he’d have shot me dead between the eyes,” Floyd said in a chilling interview.
SUSPECT ON THE RUN AFTER DOUBLE SHOOTING
After the attempted murder, the gun jammed, giving the suspect just enough time to flee. But the story doesn’t stop there.

Floyd, who never thought about bringing a gun to work, says this experience has changed everything.
“Prosecute him to the full extent of the law,” he said, urging justice while holding back tears. “I shouldn’t have to fight for my life at work.”
The Gastonia community is rallying behind him.
