Killian appeared in Catawba County District Court on Wednesday, June 4 and received a $200,000 secured bond. Investigators say they believe there were multiple shooters and that the event was promoted on social media and drew a crowd of about 100 people.
“In my experience, this is a complicated scene. It spans several separate individual pieces of property … larger than 2 acres,” Aaron Turk, a major with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, said. “More than 80 shots were fired.”
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are urging anyone with information or footage to come forward.
“This was a senseless act of violence, and we are committed to ensuring that justice is served,” said Catawba County Sheriff Don Brown in a statement. “We extend our condolences to the victims and their families.”
As of Wednesday morning, several victims remained hospitalized, with at least two reported in critical condition.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office says additional charges against Garon Killian are possible as the investigation continues.
