Durham Police investigate woman’s death on Pilot Street

Durham Police are investigating the death of a woman found on Pilot Street early Saturday morning, responding to a report at approximately 7:39 a.m. of a cardiac/respiratory arrest in the 400 block of E. Pilot Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult female lying on the ground and confirmed her death at the scene.

Contrary to circulating claims on social media, which suggested the discovery of two women dead on Fayetteville Street—one in a ditch and the other “in the trash naked”—Durham Police clarified that only one death investigation was conducted in the area.

A social media post by Abu Jamari Clayton had fueled confusion, stating: “They just found two dead women on Fayetteville Street, one in the ditch, one in the trash naked.”

The scene was cleared shortly after, and the investigation into the woman’s death remains ongoing. As of now, no further information has been released, and police have not stated how or where the woman was found.

Durham police also said, “At this time, the death is not believed to be suspicious.”
