The woman, who posted multiple videos of the confrontation online, said she was simply trying to place her order when the employee cut her off and said he didn’t want to serve her because she didn’t “speak perfect English.”
“He literally told me, ‘English is the problem,’” the woman said in her post. “I repeated my order clearly. He just didn’t want to listen.”
According to her post, the employee reportedly told her that Hispanic people shouldn’t come to the restaurant unless they could speak “proper English.”
Witnesses say he then shouted, “Get the [expletive] out of here!” before mocking her speech by saying, “necesito go” — a broken, offensive attempt at Spanish meaning “I need go.”
@luchiacm 1 Part : This is how an employee at Chick-fil-A treated me just because I went to fix my order. With racism, he told me that a Hispanic shouldn’t even come to buy there unless they spoke perfect English. The truth is, he didn’t want to work or be there, but chose to show nothing but hate and disrespect. We live in a world full of violence, and in moments like this, the best thing to do is stay calm and turn to the right authorities. The manager of this restaurant was very apologetic and told me this person was removed. My friends, let’s keep the peace and protect ourselves from people like this unfortunately, here in the U.S. there are too many of them. @Chick-fil-A #racism #hispanic #violence #hate #hearhispanicvoices ♬ sonido original – Lucia ???? ????????????
After the altercation, the woman immediately asked to speak with a manager. She says the manager apologized on the spot and promised the employee would be fired after an internal review.
@luchiacm Part 2 Many said the last video wasn’t about racism… but after watching this, do you still think so? My goal isn’t to create controversy, but to show how much violence we can face daily without even looking for it. Let’s learn to be more empathetic and tolerant. I don’t wish him harm — maybe it was just a bad day. I just hope God’s mercy reaches him so he can become a better person. #S#StopRacismB#BeKindS#SpreadLoveN#NoHateEmpathy @Chick-fil-A ♬ sonido original – Lucia ???? ????????????
Shortly after, other customers confirmed on TikTok and Reddit that the employee had been terminated.
This incident happened at the Chick-Fil-A on Hillsborough Road in the bull city.
