Duplin County Man Arrested After Pointing AR-15 at EX and Fleeing Police

Duplin County man arrested

According to the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), Truth Joyner, who has a felony record, told his ex he wasn’t afraid to kill her after violently slashing the tires on her vehicle and breaking into her residence near Faison. Deputies say he pointed an AR-15-style rifle directly at her before fleeing the scene.

Shortly after the 911 call, deputies located Joyner’s vehicle. When they attempted a traffic stop, he reportedly hit the gas and took off—leading authorities on a chase into Sampson County.

As deputies closed in, Joyner jumped out of the still-moving car, and investigators say a Glock-style ghost gun—equipped with a full auto switch—dropped from his waistband. A search of the car turned up drugs and the AR-15-style rifle Joyner allegedly pointed at the victim.

WHAT IS A GHOST GUN?

A “ghost gun” is a firearm without a serial number—typically made from unregulated parts or 3D-printed. The one dropped by Joyner had a “Glock-style” build with a full auto switch, turning it into a machine pistol.
