According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a welfare check at a residence on Raye Drive around 10:30 a.m. after receiving a concerning text message from Stephen Curtis Hicks, who claimed he had harmed his family.

When deputies arrived, no one answered the door, prompting officers to enter through an unlocked entrance. Inside, they discovered two deceased victims — identified as 76-year-old June Hicks and 45-year-old Eric Hicks.

Officials said Stephen was also found inside with minor injuries. He was immediately taken into custody and later charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
