Southern Pines Man Charged With Exploiting a Minor, Facing 10 Felony Counts

Daniel Alan Rowley, a registered sex offender is back in jail after Moore County deputies say he exploited a minor, landing him with 10 felony charges and a $750K bond.

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — A Moore County man with a troubling criminal past is back behind bars after authorities say he was caught exploiting a minor, landing him with 10 felony charges and a six-figure bond.

According to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Daniel Alan Rowley, 39, of Southern Pines, was arrested on January 8, 2026, following an investigation into the sexual exploitation of a minor.

Investigators say the case was uncovered during supervision by North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections probation officers, who reportedly discovered evidence that led to further forensic examination by law enforcement.

10 Felony Charges Filed

Rowley has been charged with 10 counts of felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

He is currently being held in the Moore County Detention Center under a $750,000 secured bond.

Court records show Rowley is scheduled to make his first court appearance on January 28, 2026, in Moore County District Court.

Already a Registered Sex Offender

What makes this case even more disturbing is that Daniel Alan Rowley was already a registered sex offender at the time of his arrest.

Public records indicate Rowley was placed on the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry in June 2025 after a prior conviction involving two counts of sexual battery in Moore County.

Despite being under supervision, authorities say Rowley allegedly continued engaging in criminal behavior involving minors.

Law enforcement officials have not released details about the the nature of the materials involved, citing the age of the alleged victim.

Authorities have also not ruled out the possibility of additional charges as the investigation continues.
