16-Year-Old Killed in Shooting Outside Windsor Elementary

Police investigate fatal teen shooting at Windsor Elementary School in Bertie County, NC.

A community is shaken after a teenager was gunned down Tuesday night outside Windsor Elementary School in Bertie County, North Carolina.

According to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), the shooting went down on or near the school’s basketball court where a group of young people were playing a friendly game. That peace was shattered when a fight broke out—ending with one teen fatally shot.

What We Know So Far

The victim, whose name has not been officially released by police, has been identified by sources to The North Carolina Beat as 16-year-old Damari Harrell, a young soul who would’ve turned 17 next month.
