A ‘crazy’ North Carolina woman is behind bars in Wilson County, North Carolina, after police say she kidnapped, castrated, and attempted to kill her stepson.
33-year-old Bracey Byrd was arrested Friday for attempted murder, felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury, malicious castration, first-degree kidnapping, and three counts of felony child abuse with physical injury.
On Thursday, Wilson County Sheriff’s Office was informed of a child abuse case by Wilson County Social Services. A boy was reported to be taken to Wilson Medical Center Emergency Department with third-degree burns. Medical staff told DSS that the wounds did not appear self-inflicted. The child also had other bodily injuries and was transported to UNC Burn Center for treatment.
The age of the boy is unknown.
The boy sustained injuries to his face, arms, head, upper and lower legs, back, and genital area. Some of the boy’s injuries did not seem fresh, and he was in the process of healing when he was taken to the hospital with third-degree burns.
Byrd is in jail under a $2,000,000.00 bond.
No other information has been released at this time.
