Charlotte man Amazon van shooting
Lonneil Cordarius Mason, 34, of Charlotte, North Carolina news, has been released from the hospital and is now in police custody following a string of violent incidents in Lenoir County, including multiple shootings and a serious head-on collision.
On March 23, 2025, Mason allegedly opened fire on three Amazon delivery vans—two near Kinston Regional Jetport on Felix Harvey Parkway and another along Highway 11. While none of the Amazon drivers were injured, all three vans were struck by gunfire, showing damage from what authorities identified as .45-caliber and AR-15 rounds.
Shortly after the shootings, Mason reportedly drove his BMW the wrong way on Highway 11, heading northbound in the southbound lanes. He collided with three vehicles, including a devastating head-on crash with an SUV carrying two women. Both victims sustained critical injuries and were transported to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.

Authorities recovered two firearms, along with cocaine and fentanyl, inside Mason’s vehicle and on his person. Mason was hospitalized in critical condition following the crash but has since been discharged and booked into the Lenoir County Jail.

Mason now faces a long list of charges, including:
Three counts of attempted first-degree murder
Three counts of shooting into occupied property
Possession of a firearm by a felon
Possession with intent to sell or deliver Schedule I controlled substances
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol has also charged him with:
Hit and run
Reckless driving
Driving without a license
Failure to wear a seatbelt
