Chapel Hill man wanted after alleged threats of mass violence and ethnic intimidation posts.
WILLIAMSTON, NORTH CAROLINA- Williamston Police say a Chapel Hill man took to social media and threatened the town’s upcoming Christmas parade — a beloved community event set for Saturday morning.
According to Chief Beth Coltrain, the threats started popping up on Monday when multiple residents came forward reporting disturbing social media posts targeting the parade. That’s when officers launched an immediate investigation and quickly identified the suspect as 31-year-old Jarrett Modica, Jr., of Chapel Hill.

Authorities say warrants were secured for Modica after he allegedly made violent statements hinting at mass harm during the parade, which is held in an area that qualifies as educational property under North Carolina law.
Modica is now wanted on:
-
1 count — communicating threats of mass violence on educational property
-
2 counts — ethnic intimidation
-
2 counts — communicating threats
Police say none of the warrants have been served, and Modica is still on the run. Anyone who knows where he might be hiding is urged to call Williamston Police at (252) 792-2124.
Chief Coltrain released a statement thanking the community members who refused to stay quiet.
“I would like to personally thank the individuals who took the time to report these concerning posts,” she said. “It truly takes all of us working together to maintain a safe and secure environment for our families, our businesses and all those who call Williamston home. Many of you saw something and said something — and your actions made a difference.”
And it doesn’t stop there — police say Modica is also wanted in Orange County for a probation violation warrant.
Despite the alarming threats, Chief Coltrain says the show will go on.
“We look forward to a safe, fun and enjoyable Christmas Parade as our community comes together to celebrate the season.”
