After an exhaustive week-long search, the body of 7-year-old Ronald Brodie Jr. was recovered from the Tar River on Tuesday, Mar. 25, 2025, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred on March 17, when Ronald was  reportedly playing near the river with other children. According to family members, he fell into the water and was unable to swim. His sister bravely attempted to save him, but was unable to reach him in time.

Following Ronald’s disappearance, a massive search effort was launched involving multiple agencies, including Franklin County Emergency Services, local fire departments, and specialized search and rescue teams. Search methods included the use of boats, sonar technology, underwater drones, aerial drones, and K-9 units.

Despite the intensive efforts, Ronald’s body was not found until more than a week later. His The North Carolina news recovery marks the somber end to a high-profile search operation that spanned several days and involved tireless work from first responders and volunteers alike.

Franklin County Sheriff Kevin White shared his condolences with the Brodie family and the community, stating:

“This is a sad day for North Carolina. Our hearts go out to the family of Ronald Brodie Jr. We are grateful for the incredible collaboration and commitment of everyone involved in this search.”

  1. My sincere Condolences to the family of this young Life. Such a handsome young Prince! Parents please teach your children to swim, have Swim lessons. Im si tired hearing about drownings!! Teach them!!!!
