A North Carolina hairstylist is calling out a Dominican hair salon in Matthews for allegedly posting racist images on its Google business profile—including a photo of a Black woman with a red “X” across her face and another image that read “NO COLORS ALLOWED.”
The disturbing discovery was made by Takara “Braider” Jenkins, who took to Facebook to share what popped up when she searched for a spot to get a blowout.
“I’m looking for a ship that does blowouts and this is what came up,” Jenkins wrote in her Facebook post.

Attached to her post were screenshots from Kelly’s Dominican Hair Salon, showing the offensive images. The first was a picture of a smiling Black woman, circled in red with a big “X” over her face. Another image said in bold letters: “NO COLORS ALLOWED.”

Salon Scrambles After Getting Called Out
After Jenkins posted the images, the salon’s Google profile was quickly flooded with one-star reviews calling out the racism. Not long after that, the photos mysteriously disappeared from the listing—but not before the Takara got screenshots.
It’s unclear whether the salon uploaded the images themselves or if they were user-submitted and left unmoderated.

Someone else posted that because they ran off without paying the $55 and they’re seeing their time in court for that and she did not post that on her profile.
We don’t want to go there no way
If they don’t want us there, GOOD we don’t go. All to it. We shouldn’t be there anyway. As a licensed cosmetology for over 15 years. Our hair is not strong enough for that. Also they put relaxer in the shampoo to straighten our hair. So go to your people and stop going to a Dominican shop. You not Dominican
Dominican is not a race. There are plenty of black Dominicans. But their practices are dangerous and they are untrustworthy. Colorism is real and sadly alot of them want to be anything but black so they bleach their skin and straighten their hair to be white presenting but their blackness will forever run through their veins.
I agree as a licensed cosmetology educator in NC. It’s sad they’re closer to black than any OTHER it’s funny they don’t want to do our hair but want our men to have they’re babies. (Oops this was about hair not our men)….hunny chile it’s SO MANY TALENTED EDUCATED (((BLACK))) STYLIST…why waste your time to pay to get chemical damage as well as heat damage ijs a sista has to sit in a sistas 💺!
Thank you for raising awareness in this world with sick people in it!
