Two people are now facing felony larceny and misdemeanor child abuse charges after a Bath & Body Works candle heist in Cary ended with their arrest — and disturbing claims they left two babies in a hot car during the alleged theft.
Who Got Locked Up?
Police say Kendrick Donta Morgan, 30, and Hydeah Williams, 24, ran up in a Bath & Body Works store on Friday and jacked over $1,200 worth of candles and body sprays, according to arrest warrants filed by the Cary Police Department.
Court records allege that while Morgan and Williams were pulling off the scheme, they left a 1-month-old and a 1-year-old child inside a turned-off vehicle with the windows cracked. Authorities say the situation created a “substantial risk of physical injury” to the babies.
According to warrants, both Morgan and Williams face the following charges:
- Felony Larceny
- Felony Conspiracy
- Misdemeanor Child Abuse
Both suspects were booked into the Wake County Detention Center.
