A North Carolina man is facing a pile of charges after authorities say he pulled off a bold and bizarre move — stealing an ambulance right from outside a hospital and driving it across county lines before the ride finally came to an end.
SNATCHED RIGHT OUTSIDE THE HOSPITAL
According to officials, EMS crews had just arrived at the emergency room at Randolph Health in Asheboro early Wednesday morning to drop off a patient.
Investigators say while crews were inside, 27-year-old Allen Ulises Morgan allegedly jumped into the ambulance and drove off just before 5 a.m.
FROM ASHEBORO TO PINEHURST
Instead of ditching the vehicle nearby, authorities say Morgan allegedly kept going — and going — and going.
The ambulance was ultimately tracked all the way to Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, nearly 50 miles away. Despite the wild ride, officials say the ambulance was recovered in drivable condition with only minor damage.

Law enforcement eventually took Morgan into custody. He is now facing multiple charges, including felony counts tied to:
-
Stealing a motor vehicle
-
Possessing a stolen vehicle
-
Fleeing to elude law enforcement
He’s also dealing with several misdemeanors, including:
-
Driving with a revoked license
-
Resisting an officer
-
Misusing the 911 system
- Traffic violations like running a red light and driving the wrong way

His bond has been set at $15,000.
