Angel Ernesto Carabello Found Dead in Lake Norman
The heartbreaking search for 14-year-old Angel Ernesto Carabello came to a tragic end Wednesday evening when his body was found in Lake Norman, just hours after he was reported missing near a home on Stutts Road in Mooresville.
Gone Too Soon
Angel was last seen around 2:45 p.m. on July 9 near a dock where his stepfather were working on house renovations. The teen was reportedly floating on a raft in the water but never returned.

Massive Search Took Over the Lake
As soon as Angel was reported missing, multiple agencies sprang into action. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, Mooresville Police, drone teams, dive crews, and lake patrol deployed all hands on deck to search the area.
Witnesses say up to 100 personnel worked to find him, focusing their efforts on the dock area where he was last seen.

Later that same evening, crews pulled Angel’s body from Lake Norman near the dock area—matching the spot where witnesses say he entered the water.
Investigation Ongoing
Officials have not confirmed the exact cause of death. They’re still piecing together what happened and awaiting autopsy results.
There is no word yet on whether Angel was wearing a life jacket.
