Shardé Sherrill — mother of 2-year-old Er’mias Mitchell — is publicly naming specific medical professionals and laying out allegations of negligence, lies, record tampering, and a possible cover-up following her son’s death at Valleygate Dental Surgery Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The July 2025 tragedy has haunted the Salisbury family for almost a year. Sherrill is making one thing crystal clear.
She will not let the justice system fail her baby.
Er’mias Mitchell, described by his parents as a healthy, playful, and smart toddler who loved being by his daddy’s side, was taken to Valleygate Dental Surgery Center for what was supposed to be a relatively routine dental procedure involving tooth caps. According to Sherrill’s post, the little boy was given propofol through an IV during induction.
The autopsy report obtained by the family’s legal team lists the cause of death as hypoxic cardiac arrest following endotracheal intubation during induction of anesthesia for a dental procedure, with the manner classified as natural.
The family has long disputed that ruling. They argue a previously healthy child does not simply die of natural causes during a dental visit. They point to what they describe as a cascade of failures, poor communication, and alleged misconduct in the procedure room.
In her Facebook post that is gaining traction, Sherrill writes:
“Until the Justice system does right by my son, I’ll make sure the whole world know who was in the procedure room with him.”
She directly addresses medical staff members by name and role, sharing photos and detailing specific accusations. The post includes images of the individuals she holds responsible.
Sherrill levels serious claims against Dr. Elizabeth Snow, MD, the anesthesiologist. She alleges that Dr. Snow had Er’mias in an unlicensed room, lied by saying he would receive general anesthesia through a face mask, and administered a total of 60mg of propofol to the 2-year-old, 24-pound child — first 30mg, followed by another 30mg even after the boy vomited and showed distress after the initial dose.
Sherrill further claims Dr. Snow lied multiple times about the child doing fine with anesthesia, left the vomiting out of the dental records without notifying them as his parents, and after Er’mias passed, allegedly went into the records and changed the second dose amount, telling lie after lie.
The post also directly names Dr. Chimere Callaway, DDS. Sherrill accuses Dr. Callaway of having Er’mias in an unlicensed room, watching the child in distress without speaking up to the anesthesiologist, sitting in the consultation room and listening to lies told to the family, and waiting until after the fact to note anesthesia complications in the records. She asks pointedly why Dr. Callaway didn’t speak up for them.
Sherrill extends her accusations to additional staff members present, including Olivia Helseth, CRNA, and Lindsay Lampert, Lead RN.
She claims they too had Er’mias in an unlicensed room, watched him in distress without speaking up, listened to the lies given to the family, failed to document the vomiting after the first propofol dose, and allowed the child to leave in an ambulance knowing his parents were in the waiting area, completely unaware of what was happening.
“YOU DIDN’T SPEAK UP FOR THE WRONGDOING!!” she writes.
Beyond naming individuals, Sherrill’s post paints a picture of systemic failure that day. She states that nobody in the room spoke up for her son and that it took three minutes to even start CPR, with staff performing CPR for 45 minutes without notifying the parents. She claims everyone wanted to cover for each other.
She further criticizes the NC Medical Board for leaving Dr. Snow’s license active, allowing her to continue working while under investigation. Sherrill accuses Detective Ocampo of the Greensboro Police Department of not doing her job, and says DA Avery Crump and others are trying to claim her son died of natural causes without sitting down with the family or fully reviewing the autopsy.
“A healthy toddler cannot die of natural causes!!! My son would still be alive if we didn’t go to Valleygate Dental Surgery Center that day,” she writes.
The post ends with:
“!! PLEASE DO NOT FAIL MY BABY 😢 !!”
Er’mias Mitchell’s death in July 2025, at Valleygate Dental Surgery Center gained public attention. The family has held protests outside the facility and at the Guilford County Courthouse. They have consistently argued that records contain inconsistencies between Valleygate documentation, EMS reports, hospital records, and the autopsy.
Earlier this month, the family’s attorneys publicly puahed the Guilford County DA’s office for a criminal investigation, citing the propofol dosing, vomiting between doses, alleged lack of informed consent regarding the anesthesia method, and communication failures.
The DA’s office has stated it reviewed the case, relies on the medical examiner’s findings, and is not moving forward with prosecution based on current information — but will review any new information.
The family has indicated plans to pursue civil action. The facility faced regulatory scrutiny after the death, including a state cease-and-desist on certain operations during an ongoing renovation.
