Something is going on inside Pitt County Schools — two assistant principals at Farmville Central High School have suddenly been pulled off the job while the district conducts what officials are calling an “ongoing personnel matter review.”

According to district officials, assistant principals Caryn Scott and Duwayne Bennett were both suspended with pay earlier this week. While school leaders are confirming the suspensions, they are refusing to spill the tea on exactly what caused the investigation.

But the silence is making folks ask questions.

Pitt County Schools confirmed Tuesday that both administrators are currently off duty while the district reviews the matter behind closed doors.

As of right now, no criminal charges have been announced, no public allegations have been released, and the district says the situation is being handled under North Carolina personnel privacy laws.

Still, social media and parents across Pitt County are already talking.

The district released only a short statement confirming the suspensions:

“Pitt County Schools can confirm that two assistant principals at Farmville Central High School have been suspended with pay pending an ongoing personnel matter review.”

That’s it.

According to district employment records, Caryn Scott has worked for Pitt County Schools since August 16, 2018, while Duwayne Bennett joined the district more recently on August 15, 2025.

School officials also made it clear that this situation is NOT connected to another recent controversy involving J.H. Rose High School teacher and soccer coach Kurt Garner, who was reportedly placed on paid administrative leave days ago during a separate investigation.

As previously reported, Greenville police later searched a property connected to Garner, adding even more attention to the growing number of personnel investigations happening inside the district.

Now, with two assistant principals suddenly removed from Farmville Central, many parents are wondering what exactly is going on.

For now, Pitt County Schools says the review remains ongoing.
