WILMINGTON, NC — A woman with a machete at Hardee’s went horror-movie mode Tuesday, swinging the machete in the parking lot on Carolina Beach Road and terrifying customers inside the fast-food spot.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, Jessica Alise Johnson allegedly smashed on the restaurant windows and screamed threats while waving the giant blade around the 2500 block location, sending people scrambling for cover.
Cops say the it happened when Johnson allegedly told one man she was going to “chop his head off” and then swung the machete in his direction as she stormed toward him.
Charges Against the Woman with Machete at Hardee’s
Johnson was charged with:
- Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Going Armed to the Terror of the People
- Communicating Threats
- Second-Degree Trespass
- Resisting a Public Officer
Officers were able to de-escalate and take Johnson into custody without further incident.
The judge set her bond at $25,000 and banned her from all Hardee’s locations in the area, citing the “potential threat she poses to the public.”
Johnson is scheduled to return to court on May 5.
