Former Benson police officer allegedly targeted a victim during a home invasion.
JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. –33-year-old Peter Alphonso Blake, a former Benson Police Department officer, was hit with multiple felony charges including forcible rape, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary, and involuntary sexual servitude, according to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
The disturbing allegations surfaced after claims of sexual assault were reported directly to the Benson Police Department. Instead of sweeping it under the rug, Benson Police Chief Greg Percy immediately turned the case over to the Johnston County District Attorney’s office.
DA Jason Waller, Chief Percy, and the SBI then launched an investigation that led straight back to one of their own.
According to the arrest warrant, Blake allegedly broke into a home on April 8 with the explicit intent to rape the victim and force her into sexual servitude.
The Town of Benson released a statement confirming they are fully aware of Blake’s arrest. As of Wednesday, the disgraced officer is no longer employed by the department.
Blake was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Johnston County Detention Center.
He is scheduled to appear before a judge on Wednesday afternoon.
