A 27-year-old Lumberton mother killed by stray bullet was watching her children play. Police have charged 22-year-old Travis D. Hunt Jr. with first-degree murder.
LUMBERTON, N.C. — A young North Carolina mother is gone after a senseless act of gun violence — and what makes it even worse… she was doing nothing watching her babies play.
Police say 27-year-old Alexis Locklear was shot and killed Wednesday night in a drive-by shooting on Musselwhite Circle in Lumberton.

WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME
According to investigators, a man inside a vehicle pulled up and fired multiple shots toward a group of people standing near another car.
She later died from her injuries.
“I JUST LEFT HER…”
Her fiancé, Eldrick McKoy, is now left trying to process a nightmare that happened in a matter of minutes.
He told reporters that he had just been home not long before the shooting — spending time with Alexis and their kids.
According to him, Alexis was outside with the children, cleaning out her mother’s car while their kids played nearby.
One child was even sitting on the porch eating yogurt.
Everything was normal… until it wasn’t.
McKoy says he left for Maxton — and shortly after arriving, he got the call that changed his life forever.
FIVE BABIES… ALL UNDER 9
Five children. All under the age of nine is now left without their mother — after reportedly witnessing the aftermath of the shooting.
McKoy says Alexis was everything to her kids.
“She was a mother before anything… she loved them babies and made sure they had everything.”
ARREST MADE
Lumberton police say 22-year-old Travis D. Hunt Jr. has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection to the shooting.

He is currently being held at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.
Authorities believe the shooting was targeted toward others — but Alexis became an innocent victim caught in the crossfire.
Police are still asking anyone with additional information to come forward.
