Isaac Tracy charged with first degree murder after police say he fatally stabbed his mother, 49-year-old Katharine Svaldi, inside their Daphne Circle home Tuesday night.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 49-year-old mother was found stabbed to death inside her own home — and police say her teenage son is the one responsible.

According to law enforcement, officers responded around 7:09 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, to the 1900 block of Daphne Circle after reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they located Katharine Svaldi, 49, suffering from multiple stab wounds inside the residence.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.





Hours later, detectives arrested her 17-year-old son, Isaac Tracy, and charged him with First Degree Murder.

Authorities confirmed both Svaldi and Tracy lived at the home.

Under North Carolina law, Tracy is being charged as an adult due to his age and the severity of the offense.

He is currently being held without bond.

Police have not yet released details about what may have led up to the deadly stabbing, but investigators say this appears to be an isolated domestic incident.
