Fetty Wap Walks Out 3 YEARS EARLY — But It Ain’t No Free-For-All!

Rapper Fetty Wap released early from federal prison under strict home confinement and supervision

Fetty Wap released early from federal prison but remains under strict home confinement and supervised release conditions.

Paterson’s own Fetty Wap — the “Trap Queen” legend who put New Jersey on the map — is officially back in the world after serving just over half of his federal prison sentence. But before you start blasting Again on the speakers, understand that the rapper’s release comes with strict federal rules he’s gotta stick to for years to come.

WHAT WENT DOWN

34-year-old Willie Junior Maxwell II, aka Fetty Wap, was transferred out of a federal prison in Sandstone, Minnesota and placed into home confinement in Philadelphia on Jan. 7, 2026, nearly three years early from his original sentence.

Fetty Wap Released Early

Fetty Wap, born Willie Junior Maxwell II, is a Grammy-nominated rapper from Paterson, New Jersey, best known for the hit song “Trap Queen.” He rose to fame in the mid-2010s before later facing federal drug conspiracy charges, which led to a multi-year prison sentence.

He was serving a six-year federal sentence for conspiracy to distribute cocaine and related narcotics tied to a multi-state trafficking ring — a case that included more than 100 kilos of drugs moving through New York and New Jersey.

HOME CONFINEMENT, NOT A FREE PASS

Fetty’s not “free” in the traditional sense. He’ll remain under home confinement until later this year, with full supervision continuing — meaning the feds are still watching and enforcing rules.

Once his home confinement ends (projected Nov. 8, 2026), Fetty still faces five years of strict federal supervision — and that’s where the real accountability begins.

NO FUN UNTIL YOU FOLLOW THE RULES

Feds have laid out a list of non-negotiables for the next several years, according to TMZ.

  • Regular drug tests — meaning random checks to make sure he stays clean.

  • No alcohol or other intoxicants — unless a doctor prescribes it.

  • Financial oversight — Fetty has to report earnings, bank accounts, tax records, and financial moves to U.S. Probation.

  • Probation check-ins — weekly or monthly meetings with federal probation officers to prove he’s on the right path.

  • Possible drug treatment programs — if probation feels he needs counseling or support.

WHAT FETTY SAID

In a statement shared with media outlets, Fetty expressed gratitude to supporters and made it clear he’s ready to shift gears:

“Right now, my focus is on giving back through community initiatives and supporting at-risk youth — expanding access to education, tech skills, and vision care so kids can show up as their best selves.”

His team says he’s in a grounded mindset — prioritizing family, fatherhood, music, and community service as he re-enters life outside prison walls.

Fetty Wap was one of the breakout stars of the 2010s, turning “Trap Queen” into an anthem that hit Billboard and reshaped mainstream rap.
