A North Carolina High School teacher will be charged with simple assault after a student filmed her assaulting another student with an extension cord Wednesday.
Police say 71-year-old Patricia Gooding Graham will be arrested Thursday afternoon after a video showing her standing over a student and proceeding to assault him with an extension cord twice. Graham is also accused of assaulting another student, which wasn’t caught on video. Police say the students are 16- and 17-year-olds.
According to the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, they were notified about the assault around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The information was forwarded to South Lenoir High School Resource Officer, who immediately launched an investigation.
In the video, Graham could be seen hitting a student twice with the extension cord. After Graham finishes assaulting the student, she says, “now sit down.”
Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers said Graham’s assault on the student “deeply disturbed me.”
We are not going to tolerate this type of behavior in our schools from people in positions of authority, said Sheriff Jackie Rogers. This video deeply disturbed me. I am proud of our Sheriff’s Office personnel who immediately responded to this and I commend them for their investigation that resulted in this arrest.
Lenoir County Schools said Graham resigned.
Graham was an English teacher at South Lenoir High School.
Seems like Grandma Pat had a flashback and learned REAAAAL fast that it wasn’t 1960 no more.

I bet they did something to cause this to happen. I don’t believe she should be charged.
Pretty sure he deserved that. She probably told him and the other one a million times to sit down and listen.
