A Wilson, North Carolina man is facing serious charges after allegedly walking into the Pitt County Courthouse with a loaded firearm on Friday, December 6, 2024. Authorities say Brennon Johnson, 20, had no court appearances or official business at the courthouse on the day of the incident, leaving many questioning his intentions.
According to police, Johnson allowed courthouse staff to search his backpack, where they discovered a loaded Beretta 9mm handgun. Warrants reveal that Johnson was under a protective order prohibiting him from possessing firearms or ammunition, making the incident even more concerning.
He now faces multiple charges, including carrying a concealed gun, possession of a weapon on state property, and six counts of purchasing a firearm in violation of a domestic order.
This isn’t Johnson’s first run in with the law. He has pending charges in Pitt County for possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule I controlled substance, as well as resisting a public officer.
Johnson is currently being held in jail without bond, as authorities continue their investigation into the incident.
