Texas Mom Says Hospital Ignored Daughter in Agonizing Labor in Viral TikTok

Viral TikTok shows Dallas Regional Medical Center ignoring laboring mother after doctor reportedly went to lunch

A viral TikTok labor video shows a Texas mom begging for help as staff allegedly delay care at Dallas Regional Medical Center.

MESQUITE, TEXAS –A Mesquite mother is calling out Dallas Regional Medical Center after a viral TikTok showed her daughter, Karrie Jones, doubled over in extreme labor pain while staff allegedly made her wait to be admitted — and the internet is heated.

The video, posted by Karrie’s mother Kash (@kashman2814), has exploded to over 23 million views, with users accusing the hospital of medical neglect and asking whether race played a role in the treatment shown on camera.

In the now-viral clip, Jones is seen wincing, shaking, and screaming in a wheelchair while a nurse attempts to check her in. Kash claims staff kept her daughter waiting more than 30 minutes, even though Jones gave birth just 12 minutes later.

The nurse featured in the viral TikTok labor video is under scrutiny after the family claims she delayed admitting a woman in active labor, prioritizing paperwork over urgent medical care.

“The delivery was AWFUL,” the mother wrote — adding that a “deathly charge nurse” chose paperwork over life.

At one point, Jones cries out that the baby is “in her a–,” prompting Kash to ask a question that has since set social media ablaze:

“Y’all treat all your patients like this or just the Black ones?”

The footage shows Jones nearly falling out of the wheelchair as she tries to reposition herself, appearing to be actively giving birth in the lobby. In another angle, Kash secretly recorded from inside her purse as her daughter screamed and pushed without medical assistance.

“Are y’all for real right now? Does she have to give birth in a chair?” Kash asked. The nurse responded that she “can’t take her upstairs,” causing the mother to question why they would risk infection and force a woman in full labor to sit in a lobby chair.

Karrie Jones, a young Texas mother, was captured in a viral TikTok video crying out in pain during active labor as hospital staff allegedly made her wait for admission.

In a statement, a Dallas Regional Medical Center spokesperson said:

“The safety, dignity, and well-being of our patients are always our highest priorities… we are reviewing this situation to understand what occurred. Due to patient privacy laws, we cannot share further details at this time.”

In an update two days after the birth, Kash said both Jones and the newborn are undergoing tests after the baby was “born with his eyes open.”

She also said the baby had a bowel movement inside the womb — known as meconium — which can be linked to fetal distress.

“But he’s eating well, sleeping well, and looking good,” she told viewers.

In a follow-up TikTok, Kash gave a play-by-play of what allegedly happened:

  • Jones called ahead to alert staff she was in labor.

  • A nurse outside reportedly told them, “This is for ambulances only,” and sent them to another entrance.

  • Kash says she begged for a wheelchair and was told to “look by the vending machines.”

  • A police officer eventually helped transfer Jones from the car — where she had been on her hands and knees saying, “It’s in my a–.”

  • Inside, staff allegedly insisted they couldn’t help because “she hasn’t signed the papers.”

Kash says she grabbed the paperwork herself and forced Jones to sign despite being in the throes of childbirth.

She also claims the charge nurse simply stood in the doorway watching as Jones screamed through contractions, telling them she needed to finish paperwork before sending her upstairs.

“Do not go to this hospital,” Kash said in her video. “They do not care about Black women or their babies.”

Commenters across TikTok and X are calling the ordeal a prime example of medical racism, pointing to national data showing Black women are far more likely to be ignored during pregnancy-related emergencies.

“It wasn’t until we got into labor and delivery where we saw an ounce of care,” she added. “Before that, they could care less.”

It was agonizing to witness this poor mother being completely ignored while in active labor. Yes, the nurse was typing but never looked at the mother or acknowledged her. I don’t know why no one else showed up to help, as the mother was screaming quite loudly. Apparently the baby was born minutes later after having defecated inside his mom. I can’t believe this almost total lack of care is the standard for this hospital, especially when the situation is this intense. Shame on the nurse, shame on the hospital! At least the mother and baby are both doing well, in spite of their treatment.
