Two college students from North Carolina Central University (NCCU) have found themselves in hot water. 18-year-old Demarcus Justin Coley from Garner and 19-year-old Ja’Maury Coe from Warsaw are now facing serious charges, including robbery and kidnapping, after allegedly breaking into a home in Durham.
According to the Durham police, these two alleged culprits reportedly invaded a residence on Fitzgerald Avenue on October 10th. Both Coley and Coe are now looking at a hefty list of charges: four counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, four counts of kidnapping, conspiracy to commit robbery, and first-degree burglary.
Earlier this week, the two college students faced the judge, with prosecutors laying out the serious allegations against them. Court documents revealed that the defendants, Coley and Coe, were accused of committing their crimes through a menacing display of a firearm, coupled with threats of violence.

Prosecutors further claimed that the teens restrained their victims during the alleged robbery, wielding a gun. In the midst of the alleged incident, they reportedly made off with the victims stolen goods, including multiple phones, shoes, and a stash of cash, all amounting to nearly $4,000.
In a show of support, Coley‘s father was present in the courtroom, defending his son. He expressed disbelief at the charges, insisting that Coley had always been a good child.
“He’s never been in trouble before,” Coley’s dad said. “He doesn’t really give us any problems at all, and I’m very shocked at the allegations that are against him.”
Meanwhile, Coley’s mother, visibly emotional, pleaded with the court to reconsider her son’s bond. She spoke about his clean record and highlighted that “DeMarcus is a student at North Carolina Central University,” hoping to sway the judge‘s decision.
