The community of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, is mourning the loss of Chris Edward Ross, the 49-year-old owner of the popular Lorelei’s Pub & Grill, who was reportedly tragically found dead inside his establishment on Thursday, November 14.
Friends, family, and loyal patrons are heartbroken over the unexpected passing of Ross, who was widely known for his warm personality and dedication to the local gathering spot. A family friend expressed their deep sorrow to us, sharing that Ross’s death has left an indelible void in his family and those who knew him.
On Friday, official death records confirmed that Ross died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, placing a gun inside of his mouth, with his time of death listed as 8:41 a.m. The manner of death was ruled as suicide.
Shortly after the devastating news, Lorelei’s Pub & Grill temporarily shut its doors, sharing a heartfelt announcement on its Facebook page at 12:47 p.m. that the bar would remain closed until further notice.Â
However, in a touching tribute to its late owner, the bar reopened the following day, November 15, to honor Ross’s memory and to provide a space for the community to come together.
As Sneads Ferry grieves, many are left reflecting on how Ross’s beloved establishment brought people together—a legacy that will continue in his memory.
