Here we go again…
Three women from Texas are missing after they crossed the US border into Mexico to sell clothes at a flea market over two weeks ago.
Roel Bermea, the Penitas, Texas police chief, said two sisters, 48-year-old Marina Perez Rios, 47-year-old Martiza Trinidad Perez Rios, and their friend 53-year-old Dora Alicia Cervantes Saenz, crossed into Mexico on February 24, 2023.
According to investigators, the three women were going to Montemorelos in the Mexican state of Nuevo León to sell clothes at a flea market, a 3-hour drive south from the US border.
Marina’s husband told the police that he had called them all weekend and did not hear from them. By Monday, he contacted 911.
The women crossed the border at the Anzalduas Port of Entry in a 1996 Green Chevrolet Silverado with Texas plates.
The US State Department said they were “aware of reports of three U.S. citizens missing in Mexico.”
In a statement, The US Department said:
The Department of State has no higher priority than the welfare and safety of U.S. citizens abroad. We stand ready to provide appropriate assistance to U.S. citizens in need and to their family. When a US citizen is missing, we work closely with local authorities as they carry out their search efforts, and we share information with families however we can.
Chief Bermea ask anyone with information on the whereabouts of these women to call 911.
