The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for three men involved in the robbery of a 66-year-old woman, who was followed home after shopping at a Walmart in Smithfield. The terrifying incident took place on Friday, Nov. 8, around 8:06 p.m., in the Four Oaks area of Johnston County.
The Robbery Details
According to investigators, the victim had been at the Walmart located on North Brightleaf Boulevard. As she struggled to load her groceries into her car, a man approached and offered to assist. After the woman arrived home and began unloading her groceries, two additional men ambushed her in her driveway.
The suspects, who claimed to have been armed with a shotgun, grabbed the woman’s purse and quickly fled the scene in an unknown vehicle. Although the woman suspected she was being followed, she did not see a car behind her when pulling into her driveway.
Victim’s Injuries and Stolen Credit Cards
The woman, who suffered minor injuries during the robbery, later reported that her stolen credit cards were used at various businesses across Benson, Selma, and Smithfield. Deputies believe the three men are responsible for this violent crime and are calling on the public for help.
Sheriff’s Office Seeking Tips
On Friday, November 15, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office released images of the suspects in connection with the robbery. They are urging anyone who may have information about the men or the robbery to come forward.
