The probe kicked off in early 2025 after red flags were raised about potential mistreatment at the facility. Once NCDHHS wrapped up its investigation on June 24, 2025, the case was handed over to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for criminal review

Terrance Gray now faces multiple charges, including, Two felony counts of Assault on an Individual with Disabilities, One misdemeanor count of Assault on an Individual with Disabilities, and One count of Communicating Threats.

Authorities say the evidence pointed to both physical aggression and threatening behavior.

Gray was arrested shortly after the sheriff’s office got involved. His bond was set at $5,000 secured, and officials confirm he is no longer employed at the group home in question.

The group home’s name and further details have not yet been released as investigators continue gathering information.
