Tory Lanez new evidence has reignited national debate as lawyers and advocates argue the rapper is innocent in the high-profile shooting involving Megan Thee Stallion. At a press conference held Wednesday, Lanez’s legal team unveiled new claims suggesting that he never fired the weapon that injured Megan, whose real name is Megan Pete, in July 2020.

Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for allegedly shooting Megan in the Hollywood Hills. But new developments, backed by attorneys and activists with the nonprofit Unite the People, are casting doubt on the conviction and pointing to possible trial misconduct.
“Mr. Peterson was never given a fair trial, free from bias, political interference, and media-driven pressure,” said political commentator and journalist Gianno Caldwell, who has been investigating the case independently.

Health Update: Lanez Recovering from Prison Stabbing
The Tory Lanez new evidence briefing also comes on the heels of a violent prison incident in which the rapper was stabbed multiple times by fellow inmate Santino Casio, a convicted murderer. Lanez is now recovering in a Bakersfield hospital after suffering wounds to his back, torso, head, and face.

“All he knows is he couldn’t breathe,” said his father, Sonstar Peterson, during the event. “Thank God he was airlifted. The medical staff has done an amazing job.”
New Testimony: Kelsey Harris Allegedly Pulled the Trigger
Attorney Walter Roberts stated that the actual shooter was not Lanez but Megan’s former best friend Kelsey Harris.
“Mr. Peterson never shot anybody,” said Roberts. “Harris fired three times at Megan. Tory grabbed her arm, the gun went off two more times. This lines up with witness Sean Kelly’s trial testimony — he saw two women fighting.”

According to Roberts, Lanez’s DNA was not found on the gun, and authorities only collected a sample from him, ignoring other individuals in the car that night.
Calls for California Governor’s Intervention
Unite the People CEO Ceasar McDowell made an emotional plea to Gov. Gavin Newsom, urging him to review the new findings and release Lanez.
“It’s time to bring the brother home,” McDowell stated.
Meanwhile, Diana London, a former Congressional advisor and current CEO of The Secret Weapon Agency, added:
“Tory Lanez doesn’t want special treatment. He wants fair treatment. The system failed him. The evidence proves he didn’t commit the crime.”
Caldwell and Critics Blast DA George Gascón’s Handling
Gianno Caldwell criticized former L.A. County District Attorney George Gascón, calling his prosecution of Lanez politically motivated.
“Gascón gave Tory enhancements despite no prior criminal history, no forensic evidence, and inconsistent testimony. That’s not justice—that’s a stunt,” Caldwell said.
He also questioned why Kelsey Harris was granted immunity despite never being charged, suggesting it raised red flags about prosecutorial bias.
Tory’s father delivered a powerful closing, referencing scripture and accusing the legal system of failing his son from the start.
“This wasn’t justice. The verdict was decided behind closed doors. Governor Newsom, the evidence is before you. This is a travesty of justice.”
If true, this could end Megan Thee Stallion’s rap career.
