The Fayetteville Police Department has confirmed that skeletal remains discovered on March 20, 2025, near the Cliffdale Road off-ramp along the All American Freeway belong to Jaylin Isaiah Dilday, a teenager who had been missing since May 2023.
Dilday was 18 years old when he was last seen on May 24, 2023, in the area of Rainer Drive, a residential neighborhood located between Cliffdale Road and the All American Freeway—just a short distance from where his remains were found. According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), Dilday told others he was planning to spend time with friends that day but never returned home.
The North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined that Dilday died from a gunshot wound to the head, confirming foul play in his death. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing blue jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt, and red Crocs.
The Fayetteville Police Department continues to investigate Dilday’s death and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
