Graney faces multiple serious felony charges, including one count of assault with a deadly weapon and eleven counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling or vehicle.

Prior to 5 p.m. on Thursday, (Nov. 7), Raleigh Police Chief Estella Patterson reported that two individuals had been apprehended in connection with the incidents, which were linked to a total of twelve occurrences. Subsequently, police announced that one of the individuals was released, while Graney was formally charged.

On Thursday, Graney was observed in handcuffs as he was escorted by authorities to a patrol vehicle on Kentford Court in southwest Raleigh. Law enforcement officials reported the seizure of various items from Graney’s residence, including a digital camera, a silver laptop computer, a .45 caliber handgun with a magazine, a black gun case containing live ammunition, and shell casings.

Additionally, police sought a search warrant for a 2015 Hyundai Sonata registered to Graney. The warrants detailed the numerous shootings involving vehicles along Interstate 40 between Cary and Raleigh, as well as four residences that were struck by gunfire. Court documents indicated that .45 caliber shell casings, consistent with the firearm recovered from Graney’s home, were discovered at several shooting locations.

Furthermore, court documents revealed that the analysis of cell phone tower data was conducted due to the shootings being classified as a “public safety concern.” This cellular data was instrumental in establishing a connection between Graney’s vehicle and the sites of the shootings.
