NCHSAA Sanctions Reidsville High School Ineligible Athletes After Investigation
Reidsville High School ineligible athletes have led to sanctions from the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) after an internal review revealed that multiple teams used players who lacked the required medical clearance for the 2024–2025 school year.
In April, school administrators learned that several students in different sports had competed without up-to-date physicals or completed participation forms. Reidsville High School reported the issue to Rockingham County Schools Central Administration and the NCHSAA.
According to Rockingham Update, the district brought in retired Guilford County athletics administrator Leigh Hebbard to conduct a full review of participation records. His findings confirmed that several sports fielded athletes despite expired or missing physicals, and in some cases, no documentation could be found.
NCHSAA Ruling
On August 6, the NCHSAA announced its decision: head coaches of the affected teams received formal reprimands, were placed on probation for the 2025–2026 school year, and will be suspended from their first contest of the upcoming season.
