A Raleigh mother is facing severe legal repercussions after being charged with attempted murder. The Raleigh Police Department arrested 28-year-old Matquisha Alexis Jones on Monday, following a disturbing incident that allegedly occurred on April 15, 2023.
According to police warrants, Jones allegedly placed her child in a chokehold and pointed a firearm at the victim. The documents further accuse Jones of subjecting the child to “a multitude of physical, psychological, and emotional instances of abuse,” which have reportedly caused the victim to suffer long-term post-traumatic stress.
In addition to the attempted murder charge, Jones faces multiple other charges, including assault by strangulation, assault by pointing a gun, and felony child abuse.
Jones is currently being held in the Wake County Jail under a $600,000 bond.
