SPRING LAKE, N.C. — A local high school teacher is now charged after deputies say she was allegedly selling marijuana near the campus.

According to the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office, 33-year-old Jocelyn Lee McArthur, a math teacher at Overhills High School, was arrested Thursday after authorities got a tip that she allegedly had drugs near campus.

After launching an investigation, deputies claim McArthur wasn’t just in possession — they say she had marijuana with the intent to sell, and was within 100 feet of the school.

Authorities say when they caught up with her, they also found drug paraphernalia and a stun gun on school grounds.

Now she’s facing some serious charges that include:

  • Felony: Possession with intent to sell/deliver near a school
  • Misdemeanors: Simple possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and having a weapon (not a gun) on school property
