NC Bail Bondsman Arrested for $200K Embezzlement
Nathan Javonte Chambers, a 27-year-old bail bondsman from Mount Pleasant, North Carolina, hit with charges of embezzlement and conversion by a bailee. Chambers, who operates with 123 Bail Bonding, is accused of misappropriating $200,000 from a client, according to North Carolina Department of Insurance.
According to an arrest warrant issued by the North Carolina Department of Insurance’s Criminal Investigations Division, Chambers allegedly orchestrated a deceptive financial scheme. The client initially used 123 Bail Bonding in Mecklenburg County to post a $25,000 bond on June 23, 2023. Just days later, on June 26, 2023, Chambers reportedly convinced the client to invest $200,000 under the pretense that the funds would be returned upon the dismissal of their criminal charges.
Despite the charges being dropped, the client never received their money back, leading to Chambers’ arrest. Chambers was arrested on January 20, 2025. His bond was set at $5,000 and has since bonded out.
