Back on May 31, Nevaeh was shot and killed while sitting inside a car on North Graham Street in north Charlotte — a senseless attack that left her family, friends, and entire community devastated.

“WE FINALLY EXHALE”: FAMILY SPEAKS OUT AFTER THE ARREST

After months of agony and unanswered questions, Nevaeh’s family released a powerful statement following Meeks’ arrest.

“We finally exhale. We’ve been living every parent’s nightmare. Our baby girl deserved to grow up. She deserved to live.”

Nevaeh’s parents, Tyrone Carter and Jamie Cureton, thanked the community for keeping their daughter’s memory alive. The two previously spoke through unimaginable heartbreak, calling the loss “numbing” and urging anyone with information to come forward.

“It hurts. My body is numb from it,” her father shared.
“If anyone knows anything… call the detective’s office or somebody.”
