Republican U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, 83, is back in headlines after taking another public tumble — this time inside the Russell Senate Office Building. The moment was caught on camera Thursday and quickly spread across social media.
In the viral clip, McConnell is seen walking through a basement corridor when a young woman from the Sunrise Movement asked about his stance on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Moments later, McConnell appeared to lose his balance, briefly grabbing his aide’s arm before falling to the ground — landing hard on his left side.
Capitol Police and staff members rushed to assist him. Despite the scare, McConnell waved to cameras, got back on his feet, and reportedly went on to cast his Senate vote just minutes later. His office later said the senator was “all good” and resumed his duties without delay.

This fall marks at least the fourth public health-related incident involving McConnell in recent years.
-
February 2025: Fell down Senate stairs while exiting a vote.
-
December 2024: Slipped at a GOP luncheon, spraining his wrist and suffering facial cuts.
-
March 2023: Hospitalized after a fall that caused a concussion and rib fractures.
McConnell has also had several public “freeze-up” moments that raised questions about his neurological health, though his team maintains he’s fit for duty.
