Where is Missing Charlotte Teen Ava Staples?
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte family is desperately searching for answers after a 13-year-old girl left home with another girl, and now police are asking the public to help bring her home safely.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Ava Staples was officially reported missing on January 30, 2026. As of now, her whereabouts remain unknown.
Police describe Ava as a Black female, approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing around 100 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
“She’s Still Missing”
As concern grows, a woman identifying herself as Ava’s grandmother took to social media to address rumors and shut down judgment surrounding the case.
A Facebook user named Myra Norton, who says she is Ava’s grandmother, made an emotional plea urging the public to focus on finding the teen — not speculating about why she may have left.
“She’s been gone for 7 days and I don’t care if she walked away, rode away, or got on a broom and flew away — she’s still missing!” Norton wrote.
CMPD says even the smallest detail could help locate Ava and safely reunite her with her loved ones.
If you believe you’ve seen Ava Staples or have any information that could assist investigators, you are urged to contact the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department immediately at 704-336-2371, or call 911.
Updates will be posted as more information becomes available.
