MAGA Group Escorted Off TSU Campus After Provocative Unapproved “Debate” Sparks Backlash

A self-described conservative activist group named Fearless Debates came under fire at Tennessee State University (TSU) Tuesday afternoon. Rocking Make America Great Again (MAGA) hats and carrying inflammatory signage like “DEI should be illegal” and “Deport all illegals now,” the group descended on the historically Black university claiming they were initiating a spontaneous “debate.”

TSU wasn’t having it.

It happened around 3 p.m., when the group showed up unannounced on the TSU campus in Nashville, Tennessee. According to school officials and civil rights organizations, the demonstration was unauthorized, and no permits had been filed for the gathering.

Despite presenting themselves as free speech advocates, their signage and approach were viewed by students and faculty as provocative and incendiary, particularly on an HBCU campus with a predominantly Black student body.

According to the NAACP Nashville Chapter, the group’s tactics weren’t about open dialogue—but instead were seen as a “deliberate provocation” intended to antagonize the student population.

Campus police and staff responded quickly, escorting the MAGA activists off the premises “without incident.”

TSU Responds

In an official statement, Tennessee State University emphasized the safety and respect of its campus community, praising students for handling the situation calmly and professionally.

The TSU Student Government Association (SGA) didn’t hold back, calling the group’s behavior unacceptable:

“This type of behavior has no place on our campus.”

David Khait, co-founder of Fearless Debates, spoke to local media claiming that TSU students escalated the situation.

He said the group had staged similar events elsewhere without issue and claimed Charlie Kirk’s recent death inspired their renewed push for conservative dialogue on college campuses.

But even with that explanation, students weren’t buying it.
