A 23-year-old Simmesport, Lousiana man is still recovering after being brutally assaulted by a family, who they thought was the man having sexual encounters with a 9-year-old girl, but he was the wrong person.
Jacqueline Watson, the victim’s aunt, who we will identify later in this story, told The North Carolina Beat that there was a video of a little girl being sexual with another male. She said on Thursday, December 8, 2022, a family they do not know took matters into their own hands and blamed her nephew, who she says was not the male on the video. Jacqueline said that this family went to her nephew’s home.
“They took it upon themselves to say that it was my nephew,” Watson said. “They went to my nephew’s house to question him.”
Watson said when her nephew’s uncle, Rufus, answered the door. The family did not tell Rufus what they were there for, but they wanted to speak with 23-year-old Malik Ballard. Watson said Rufus woke Ballard up, and he went to the door.
“My nephew came outside, and they started questioning him, in which he told them that he did not know what they were talking about, ” Watson said.
According to Watson, a man named Bryant Washington called Ballard to his car. Watson said as soon as her nephew, Ballard, stepped down the steps, he was attacked by a man named Romo Turner.
“When he made it to the last step, that’s when Romo hit him and they all charged at him, beating him with guns, and put a gun to his head,” Watson said.
That wasn’t the only disgusting thing they allegedly did to Ballard. Watson told The North Carolina Beat that Ballard was also sexually assaulted. She said they beat him by his steps and garage before sexually assaulting him.
“Kendrick Washington pulled my nephew’s pants down and stuck his finger in his butt,” Watson said.
We asked Watson how this family knew Ballard or why they linked him to the person in the video, and she said she didn’t know. Watson added that the family who assaulted her nephew doesn’t even know the 9-year-old girl’s family.Â
“I don’t know how they linked him to any of this, but he didn’t do it, Watson said. “The police have the person that did whatever to the little girl.”

The woman in the video you see assaulting Ballard with the pistol is Trinitra Turner Williams.
According to Watson, Trinitra’s 14-year-old son is the boy in the video having sexual encounters with the little girl.
“They knew it was Trinitra’s son the whole time,” Watson said. “My whole family is still trying to figure out how my nephew got thrown in this. It’s strange.”Â

Watson told The North Carolina Beat that days later, the family tried to pay Ballard off. The video obtained by The North Carolina Beat doesn’t specifically talk about money, but it implies that they were going to “make this right.”

Not only did they allegedly try to offer Ballard money, but Kendrick Washington, who allegedly stuck his finger up Ballard’s butt, sent Ballard a message on Facebook apologizing and saying he was misled and lied to.

Ballard sustained multiple injuries, including a fracture of nasal bones and abrasions on his back, left arm, right arm, and lips, just all over his body.

Watson said everyone involved was arrested and charged for this assault and sexual assault and is out on bond.
The North Carolina Beat has reached out to authorities in Simmesport, Louisiana, to obtain records of the arrests.
